Understanding the challenges with auth as a service, using the Lastuser service

Description

At Pycon India 2011, I presented Lastuser, which provides authentication as a service, aggregating multiple social profiles into a single application-facing profile. Lastuser has since been adopted by PyCon India for its own proposal submission process.

It's been three years since, so I'd like to revisit how Lastuser has developed since then and what I've learnt about authentication and building such apps using Python.
