Women In IoT : Welcome To Next Industrial Revolution

SARABU ROSHITHA (~sarabu)

Description:

Coming together is a beginning; holding together is progress; working together is success”. This is the phrase that stands true to my life at the college. IoT is a technology or concept that will enable an individual, an organization, a city, or a nation for retrofitting their existing system/business model/solutions/infrastructure, which will empower the people to live a meaningful and fulfilled life. The purpose of the technology or innovations is meant for everyone. It is 'Internet of Everything'. Although, today we are evolving and focusing on women's empowerment, on equality, and on education, there is still a huge gap to fill. The primary objective of IoT technology is to simplify the processes and to remove the overhead in performing any task. While trying to build Smart Cities or Nations that protect and governs an individual's safety and security. Instead, all that I see or read is that with all the advancements the City or Nation are continuing to make, it is still becoming unsafe by the day for a woman to live fearlessly and in freedom. Many devices have come to make women free from the fear and to give freedom. IoT Maker Space at college works with an objective of looking into overall development of a student in terms of technical skills, presentation skills, innovative thinking, developing prototypes, and to get them ready as future entrepreneurs. At college level, they conduct workshops, Hackathons, lectures to encourage the students in IoT based technologies. Mentors, jury from industry and academics are invited to validate the ideas of the women students for further guidance. The main objective is to make women independent in developing and building IoT based technologies.
