Making the IT World a more inclusive space for the Visually Impaired

Description:

Vision-Aid (www.VisionAid.org) is a nonprofit organization which aims to enable, educate and empower the visually impaired to live with independence and dignity. Vision-Aid offers coding classes in Python to the visually impaired. Courses are freely offered to aspiring visually impaired programmers in semester-long courses where students learn from experienced volunteer developers from the Industry. Vision-Aid also offers semester long courses in Accessibility Testing for the visually impaired. In addition, Vision-Aid co-sponsors conferences and hackathons for the visually impaired including the Inclusive STEM hackathon held every year at IIIT Bengaluru. The poster will showcase the work by Vision-Aid in the space of both coding and testing by the visually impaired.
