Ansible - A radically simple configuration management and deployment framework
by Nikhil Singh (speaking)
Objective
The objective is to spread the work around about Ansible. Ansible is a simple configuration management and deployment framework that is very simple to set up and easy to understand.
Description
Ansible is a radically simple model-driven configuration management, deployment, and command execution framework. Other tools in this space have been too complicated for too long, require too much bootstrapping, and have too much learning curve. By comparison, Ansible is dead simple and painless to extend. Puppet and Chef have about 60k lines of code. Ansible’s core is a little over 2000 lines.
This talk will cover the following areas: 1. Basics of configuration management systems. 2. Why use Ansible? 3. Introduction to Ansible + Running simply ad-hoc commands + Using a few Ansible modules to demonstrate how the modules work + Explanation of playbooks and possibly a short tutorial
I will try and run modules / commands live as much as possible so that people can see Ansible in action.
