Dev Sprints

PyCon India is a place for developers from across the country (and beyond) to get together and celebrate Python. But what good is a PyCon without getting your hands dirty writing some code? Hence, for all Open Source enthusiasts out there, the PyCon India team is happy to announce DevSprints @ PyCon India 2020.

During Dev Sprints, mentors / contributors of OSS projects guide participants through the end-to-end process of OSS contribution, right from setting up build environments, to developing and testing code, to submitting patches for bugs. If you are stuck, mentors are all available to help you figure out issues and get you back up and running! From past experiences, we’ve seen a lot of people start off contributing to OSS through DevSprints and later go on to become regular contributors to various projects across the web.

Find your favorite project from the list of projects.

Process

  • Projects introductions will be done at the start and will be recorded. The recording can be then put in a session, via Youtube Provider anyone joining late or from other timezones can access it.

  • The DevSprint will continue for the entire duration of the event i.e from Oct 4, 11:30am to Oct 5th, 8:30pm IST.

  • At the end projects will have a demo and showcase what they worked upon etc. This will be recorded as well and live cast to Youtube.

  • Hopin sessions should be enough to work for all projects during the time.

  • All discussions will happen on Zulip project specific streams and Hopin.

  • The organizer will pin the message containing the project setup description & the link to the Zulip stream in the respective session.

  • The Zulip stream description should mention how to setup the projects.

Hopin Setup

The DevSprint will be hosted on Hopin Sessions and Zulip, not on any of the stages.
