Description:

I will be presenting my work on GIMP-ML, a set of AI Python plugins for the GNU Image Manipulation Program (GIMP). GIMP serves as a popular open-source alternative to Adobe Photoshop and is widely used for creating and editing images. The project gained recognition by being featured as a top trending topic on Papers with Code in 2020. It has 1.4k stars on GitHub. Now, I plan to extend this work by incorporating the latest advancements in generative AI and large language vision models for AI assisted image editing. These enhancements will be seamlessly integrated into the GIMP workflow. During the presentation, I will demonstrate some of the initial progress in this direction and help the attendees set up the development environment. The number of contributors to this project has been limited so far due to the pending release of GIMP 3, which brings support for Python 3. This constraint has been bypassed with the latest development branch. Additionally, I am actively seeking collaborators who are interested in joining me to elevate this project to the next level. I have put link to the slides in the Content URL section.
