Description:

If there has been some movie, which sparked my interest in Data Science it has to be Moneyball. It was at that time, I was introduced to the field of sabermetrics, the empirical analysis of baseball to measure in-game activity. The reason "Moneyball" succeded for the Oakland A's was not data analytics but the person "Beane" who understood the potential of it which would change the entire organization.

In this session, we'll start with the intro of the movie, Followed by Data Analysis using Python and finally see results for ourselves. Main Motive of this Talk -

  1. Challenging the Conventional Recruiting Method
  2. Highlighting the importance of Data Science in Sports Field
  3. If money is the constraint, Data Science is the answer.

Prerequisites:

  • Basic Knowledge of Python and Statistics
    • Should be familiar with Jupyter Notebook or Google Colab
