Summary

There are two kinds of python web app developers. the ones who love django, and the ones who dont. This talk is hopes to cross the django 101 - blog, stage and introduce to the users the many hidden features of django that are seldom exploited. at the end hoping to make the ones who love django love it more, and the ones who dont respect it for what it is.

Outline

The talk is a walk through cookbook of sorts which will be in several independent segments. Each one of these segments will start with a scenario that will seem impossible to be implemented with vanilla django at the superficial level in the beginning, but will at the end, solve it with an elegant solution that people seldom knew existed. amongst various other things, we will be looking (in no particular order) extreme usages of:

  1. Serialization
  2. Middleware
  3. Auth Backends
  4. Templating
  5. Handling View Pre Requisites.
  6. Testing adapters.
  7. Usage of non standard databases.

Profile of the authors

Kausikram Krishnasayee, is a code geek at Silver Stripe Software. Being a Mechanical Engineer, it was love at first sight, when he got introduced to the python programming language. Python to him is the natural, only obvious way he found to transcend from his Spaghetti PHP days, as the Main Site Administrator and head of Technology and backend operations of Proto.in. Kausik is convinced that he is in no way a python guru but a very modest and enthusiastic student of the language that helps him earn his bread and butter. He is ever fascinated in learning and discovering new things and intricacies surrounding the language, and loves to share the tricks he learnt with his peers.
