Abstract | Automation in validation has been a requirement in order to reduce manual intervention & validation cycle to deliver a time to market product launch. Achieving Automation in Pre-OS environment like BIOS (Basic Input Output System), Diagnostics tools & similar 32-bit applications, has been a challenge since we won’t have an agent or intelligent application to run scripts or pass commands. As we all know serial communication is a very primitive debug mechanism to access a device, and is available in all servers. In this talk, we will discuss how we use serial communication to pass the commands to the server under Test, through our Python script running on a helper machine. Helper machine communicates with the SUT using serial port. Multiple SUTs can be connected to a single helper machine with a multiport serial card & can be automated together simultaneously. |
