Abstract In this talk I will trace through my personal experiences using Python for a wide variety of tasks -- scientific computing (touching on numerical computing, interactive data analysis, high-performance and parallel computing), system administration, building visualization tools (Mayavi/TVTK), user interfaces etc. and cover the powerful facilities that Python provides for all of these. I will use these to emphasize why Python is an ideal language to learn at many levels.
